Deepawali Celebration by Prayas Foundation at GHODBUNDER FORT by lighting Lamps. 18th October 2017.

After gaining a lot of little angels smiles at Titwala Gurukul, Prayas Foundation decided to do something different this Diwali.

We spoke to some local Villagers around the Fort & decided to celebrate Diwali together on 18th October 2017.

Armed with 100 wax lamps, Prayas Foundation team reached the fort at around 4.30pm. The local people till then had got the top of the Fort cleaned.

Prayas Foundation members were very curious to know how such a magnificent fort was here in Thane & what was the history behind it? We were totally awed looking at the construction quality of the Fort & nearby Facilities like the Food Storage spaces & Cannon storage spaces etc.

The localities told us the history in brief & we were saddened on seeing that such a fabulous place has been ignored for so long & many Thane residents don't even know that this fort exists.

After our discussions, we (Prayas Foundation) promised the localiets that Prayas Foundation is now with them & we will do whatever we can to ensure that this fantastic Heritage spot in Thane is well preserved & well maintained. We (Prayas Foundation) also took a pledge that we will surely try & make it a Tourist spot so that more & more people visit & come to know of the fantastic history of Ghodbunder Fort. That way some day the Government too would become aware of it & do something from their side too. We passed on our thinking to them that we cannot just sit idle expecting the Government to do everything automatically. As responsible citizens we too should give it our 100% efforts & we will.

With this beautiful pledge we requested the ladies in our group to do the honours by lighting the beginning Lamps while the localiets placed the Lamps in a lovely Swastik shape. Finally after some photos together, & loud Cheers of Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai & Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji we left the Fort.
